Google has announced the discontinuation of the Nest Home Mini and Nest Audio smart speakers as it introduces a new model to its lineup. The decision comes as the company shifts its focus toward its latest products, particularly to enhance its Gemini chatbot integration across its offerings.
These Nest devices have been available for approximately five years, with the original Google Home Mini released in 2017. Despite the cessation of production, existing users of the discontinued models will continue to receive support, including software updates and security patches.
The newly launched speaker is priced at $100, matching the cost of the previous Nest Audio but higher than the earlier retail price of $50 for the Nest Home Mini, which was often available at discounted rates.
