In Latin America, smartphone shipments reached a total of 34.8 million units in Q1 2026, marking a 3% increase compared to the previous year. The iPhone experienced a significant boost, with a 31% year-over-year increase, driven particularly by an 80% surge in Mexico. This performance highlights Apple's growing presence in the region.
According to a report from Omdia, Samsung led the market by shipping 12.9 million units, capturing 37% of the market share, followed by Xiaomi at 6 million units and 17% share. Motorola and HONOR followed, with shipments of 4.9 million and 3.4 million units, respectively. Apple, with 1.8 million shipments, secured a 5% share, ranking fifth overall.
Omdia's findings also reveal that Apple ranked fifth in Brazil, maintaining a 5% share, while in Mexico, it achieved a third-place ranking with a 16% share. Looking ahead, the report indicates that rising memory costs may affect retail prices, especially for devices priced below $300, starting late Q2 2026.
