The latest update to the iPhone's Reminders app introduces a significant enhancement, allowing users to set urgent alerts for their reminders. Previously, reminders could only be prioritized as low, medium, or high, visually indicated by exclamation marks. The new feature aims to ensure crucial reminders receive more noticeable notifications.
When a reminder marked as urgent is triggered, it will dominate the entire screen and emit a ringtone, even when the phone is locked. To activate this option, users must create a reminder and navigate to its settings, selecting the “Urgent” feature under the date and time settings. However, both a date and time must be set to utilize this function, as disabling either will turn off the urgent alerts.
Upon the urgent reminder’s activation, users will see options to snooze or dismiss the alert, similar to standard alarm notifications, but this only occurs when the device is locked. This update not only improves the visibility of critical tasks but also integrates seamlessly with existing reminder functionalities, such as tagging and location-based triggers.
