Leaked images of a possible new folding iPhone, speculated to be named the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold, suggest a design that mirrors the dimensions of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. A video by Vadim Yuryev from Max Tech presents these dummies, which he claims are accurate representations, particularly since last year’s prototypes accurately depicted the iPhone 17 series. The anticipated launch of the folding device is set for September.
The dummy design indicates a thickness of 11mm when folded and 5.5mm when opened, making it slightly thinner than the iPhone Air. Additionally, it features a prominent camera panel that accommodates two lenses, spanning about three-quarters of the rear surface. Despite concerns regarding its size, Yuryev argues that the claims about it being too wide to fit in pockets are overstated.
Furthermore, the design includes a Camera Control feature, which was previously thought to be impractical for such a slim device. The recent revelations around the iPhone Ultra coincide with a report discussing the timing of a CEO transition at Apple, adding to the intrigue surrounding the company's future products.
