With the release of iOS 18.4, Apple has enabled integration of robot vacuums into the Home app, leveraging the Matter smart home standard. This change allows users to manage their robot vacuums alongside other HomeKit devices, enhancing home automation capabilities.
Users can schedule cleaning times and automate tasks for specific rooms, choosing between vacuuming and mopping modes if supported by the device. The Home app also provides real-time status updates, such as whether a vacuum is currently cleaning or charging, and allows voice commands via Siri for hands-free operation.
Several models are now compatible with HomeKit, including those from Ecovacs like the Deebot X8 Pro Omni and others. Roborock has also introduced various models with HomeKit support, including the S8 MaxV Ultra and plans to expand compatibility further. Additionally, SwitchBot has begun offering HomeKit integration with its S20 Robot Vacuum and Mop.
