A bug in the Gmail app is hindering users of Google Pixel devices from replying to emails effectively, as the keyboard fails to appear as intended. Reports have surfaced on Reddit from approximately a dozen Pixel owners, along with one user from a Galaxy device, experiencing this issue.
When attempting to reply or compose emails, users find the keyboard does not activate, leaving only the “Help me write” placeholder visible. A temporary fix reported involves tapping the button typically used to hide the keyboard, which can restore its functionality. Another workaround suggested is switching the phone to landscape mode, allowing the keyboard to reappear until the next reply attempt.
The specific cause of this problem remains undetermined, though it is believed to be related to Gmail, as affected users have not indicated similar issues in other applications.
