With a focus on enhancing user experience, Google Home is introducing several new features aimed at improving smart home automation. A notable update addresses a persistent issue where users experienced a “Video not available” error when trying to access video clips from notifications. This fix allows the app to now play back events captured by cameras without delays.
In addition to resolving camera playback issues, the update enables new automation triggers such as humidity levels, battery status, and robot vacuum docking. Users can set specific conditions for automations, like initiating actions when humidity exceeds 60% or a vacuum returns to its dock. There are also enhanced options for switch presses and device states, expanding the versatility of the platform.
Moreover, lighting automation is being upgraded to include control over RGB colors and color temperature, which were previously unavailable. These improvements are expected to enhance the overall functionality of the Google Home app and are scheduled to roll out to users' devices within the week.
