Google is rolling out a redesign for its Gemini Live feature, which now integrates directly into the Gemini app homepage rather than using a fullscreen interface. Users of the app's beta version 17.14 will notice changes including a new top bar labeled “Live with Gemini” and the addition of a transcript button.
The redesign modifies the prompt box, replacing it with a pill-shaped container displaying a blue waveform. Users can share their camera or screen from one side, while the opposite side provides a microphone mute option. Exiting Gemini Live can be done by tapping the keyboard or using the system back gesture.
Previously, Google tested a more minimalist version focused solely on camera sharing and a keyboard icon, hiding the mute gesture behind a double-tap on the waveform. This latest redesign aims for a clearer user experience and is currently exclusive to the Gemini app, with plans for a similar update to the overlay interface in the future.
