Google's recent announcement regarding Gemini Intelligence introduces demanding specifications for Android devices, excluding models such as the Pixel 9 series and last year's Galaxy Z Fold 7. The core of Gemini Intelligence is a new branding for Google's advanced AI features, aimed at premium Android users.
The minimum requirements to support this technology are substantial. Devices must feature a flagship chip, a minimum of 12GB of RAM, and must support AI Core and Gemini Nano v3 or higher. Additionally, they are expected to receive at least five Android OS upgrades throughout their lifespan, along with six years of security updates, which should occur quarterly.
Currently, only devices released in 2026 or later are compatible with Gemini Nano v3. Notable models that meet these criteria include the Pixel 10 series and devices from various manufacturers like OnePlus and Samsung. In contrast, the Pixel 9 series and other devices still operating on Gemini Nano v2 will not be able to utilize Gemini Intelligence features.
