Withings has introduced the BodyFit, a new smart scale priced at $280, aimed at individuals using GLP-1 medications. This model seeks to address the needs of approximately 30 million users in the U.S. who are experiencing muscle loss while managing their weight through these treatments.
The BodyFit incorporates features similar to Withings' flagship Body Scan, including a tension-reel grab handle for assessing body composition and heart health through bioelectrical impedance. Users must hold the bar at waist height for the device to measure muscle mass accurately.
According to Withings, the BodyFit's analysis is comparable to clinical-grade procedures, achieving 98 percent accuracy for muscle mass and 99 percent for fat mass when validated against DEXA scans. It is designed to help users track their body composition changes, ensuring they distinguish between muscle loss and fat reduction.
The scale is currently available for purchase on Withings' website, with plans for broader retail distribution soon.
