Asus has indicated that it will not launch any new Android smartphones in 2026, signaling a significant shift in its mobile strategy. The company, which has a longstanding history in smartphone manufacturing, announced only two models in 2025: the Zenfone 12 Ultra and the ROG Phone 9 series.
Reports from Digitimes reveal that Asus has informed telecom channels of its decision to halt new Android device development for the upcoming year. However, the company reassured that existing products will continue to receive necessary support, including maintenance, software upgrades, and warranty services.
Despite the cessation of new launches, Asus has stated that its “smartphone operations will continue,” leaving open the possibility for future developments. This decision aligns with the increasing costs associated with smartphone components as the market evolves.
