Apple is introducing a premium smartphone, the iPhone Ultra, priced at $1,999, aimed at affluent consumers. This strategy comes as the smartphone market nears saturation and upgrade cycles extend, prompting Apple to revise its pricing framework to enhance revenue without alienating existing users of the iPhone 18 Pro.
Set to debut alongside the iPhone 18 lineup, the Ultra seeks to attract the top five percent of Apple’s user base by offering luxury materials and advanced components. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will remain at their established price points of $1,099 and $1,299, respectively, with the entry-level iPhone 18 Pro starting at $1,049.
Apple aims to mitigate the growing discontent among consumers regarding incremental hardware changes by concentrating high-end engineering into the iPhone Ultra. This approach will help maintain sales and profit margins for the iPhone 18 series while managing increased component costs.
