As of May 31, the current Apple TV 4K, launched in 2022, has been on the market for 1,304 days. If it remains unupdated by July 4, it will surpass the A10X Fusion model's record for the longest-selling version, which lasted 1,337 days before being replaced. Reports indicate that Apple has a new version of the Apple TV 4K prepared but may delay its release pending an update to the AI-related software, potentially linked to tvOS 27 expected in the fall.
The previous model, the A10X Fusion, was introduced after a gap of 693 days since the original Apple TV release in 2015. In contrast, the transition to the current generation Apple TV 4K occurred after only 532 days, highlighting a significant increase in the release interval. As Apple continues to enhance the existing hardware with new features, the long wait for an update has raised concerns among customers.
