The current Apple TV 4K, introduced in 2022, is on track to become the longest-selling version without an update if a new model is not released by July 4. As of May 31, the device has been available for 1,304 days, edging closer to the record set by the A10X Fusion model, which was sold for 1,337 days.
Reports indicate that a new version of the Apple TV 4K is ready, but Apple may delay its launch pending a software update related to AI, potentially aligning with the release of tvOS 27 in the fall. The current model features the A15 Bionic chip, and any delay would extend the gap since the last hardware release, which followed only 532 days after its predecessor.
In comparison, the Apple TV HD from 2015 was sold for 2,545 days before being discontinued, although it served as a budget option. The shift to a more competitively priced model in the current generation may be beneficial if customers are required to remain with a single version for an extended period.
