Following the recent release of Android 17 for Google Pixel devices, over 7,400 users shared their experiences regarding the operating system's performance. A significant portion, 35%, reported no noticeable improvements in speed, with many stating their devices feel identical to how they performed under Android 16. This feedback suggests that the update may not represent a significant enhancement, as indicated by users like jimv1983 and Mattia, who expressed that their devices maintain the same performance levels.
Conversely, 31.50% of respondents, equating to 2,337 users, felt that their devices experienced a marked improvement in speed and responsiveness after the update. Additionally, some users noted that while overall performance remained unchanged, issues such as Wi-Fi disconnections were resolved. A total of 25.04% of participants either had not updated or were uncertain about the performance changes related to Android 17.
However, a smaller group of 8.29%, comprising 615 votes, indicated that their phones became slower post-update, particularly affecting older models or certain configurations. For instance, a user with a baseline Pixel 8 reported noticeable lag during gameplay, highlighting that not all users experienced the same benefits from the update.
