The global cryptocurrency market capitalization has plummeted from its peak of over $4.2 trillion to approximately $2.4 trillion, reflecting a significant downturn in investor sentiment. Current worldwide search interest for the term “crypto” stands at 30 out of 100, indicating a decline in engagement compared to previous highs, as reported by Google Trends.
In the United States, search volume followed a similar trajectory, peaking at 100 in July before dropping to below 37 in January. However, a slight recovery was observed in early February with search volume rising to 56. The lowest point for US search interest was recorded at 32 during an April 2025 market crash, attributed to economic policies.
As of now, the total crypto market volume has decreased from over $153 billion earlier this month to around $87.5 billion. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index has also fallen to record lows, signaling extreme fear among investors, with the index dropping to 5 before slightly recovering to 8.
