ShinyHunters, an established hacker group, has threatened Rockstar Games after claiming access to the company's cloud servers. The group, known for previous breaches involving companies like Microsoft and Google, issued a warning demanding payment by April 14, or they would leak sensitive information that could cause "several annoying (digital) problems."
In response, Rockstar confirmed the incident, stating that only a "limited amount of non-material company information" was compromised due to a third-party breach. The company reassured that this event had no impact on its operations or players. This latest breach follows a significant hack from 2022 that resulted in extensive leaks of Grand Theft Auto VI assets, leading to legal consequences for one of the involved hackers.
Rockstar's ongoing efforts to secure its infrastructure remain critical as it navigates these cybersecurity challenges.
