Anthropic has announced that its cybersecurity initiative, Project Glasswing, has successfully identified over 10,000 vulnerabilities just one month after its launch in April. The program utilizes the unreleased Claude Mythos Preview model, significantly boosting the rate at which partners detect security flaws in their software.
Among the notable findings, Cloudflare reported discovering 2,000 bugs, with 400 classified as critical or high severity. Meanwhile, Mozilla noted it addressed 271 vulnerabilities in Firefox, marking a tenfold increase compared to previous efforts using an older model. The initiative also revealed 6,202 high- and critical-severity vulnerabilities from a scan of 1,000 open-source projects.
Despite the advancements, Anthropic has withheld public access to Mythos Preview, citing concerns over potential misuse. The company plans to collaborate with various partners and governments, including Amazon Web Services, Google, and Apple, to enhance Project Glasswing and develop necessary safeguards.
