A distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack on the French postal service, La Poste, disrupted operations significantly on December 22, just prior to the holiday season. The attack, attributed to the pro-Russian hacker group Noname057, rendered central computer systems inoperative, impacting package tracking and online banking services through La Banque Postale.
As of Wednesday morning, the aftermath of the cyberattack remained unresolved, although regular mail services were functioning normally. The incident led to considerable delays in package deliveries, causing frustration among customers during a peak shopping period.
This group has been linked to cyberattacks worldwide, with a focus on Ukraine and its allies. In response to their activities, Europol has initiated a comprehensive operation against Noname057, with involvement from the US Justice Department as well.
