A Chinese national has been extradited to South Korea following allegations of leading a hacking operation that targeted various individuals, including Jungkook, a member of the K-pop group BTS. The suspect, 40 years old, faces charges related to the theft of approximately 38 billion won (around $25.4 million) from multiple victims.
The hacking incidents reportedly occurred from August 2023 to April 2025, during which the suspect attempted to access a securities account in Jungkook's name to transfer shares valued at 8.4 billion won from the management company Hybe. This transaction was halted when Hybe froze the account after detecting the unauthorized access.
Authorities have indicated plans to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect following further investigation and evidence analysis. The extradited individual had been residing in Bangkok prior to his transfer to South Korea. Another member of the same hacking ring, a 36-year-old man, was extradited from Thailand last August and is currently facing trial.
