Apple has issued urgent warnings regarding new attacks that threaten iPhone users not operating on specific software versions. Those using iOS versions prior to iOS 26 or iOS 18.7.3 are particularly vulnerable and are advised to upgrade immediately.
For devices capable of running iOS 26, which includes models from iPhone 11 onward, the option to revert to iOS 18.7.3 is unavailable. Many users, estimated to be in the hundreds of millions, have yet to update, putting them at risk of potential spyware infections.
Regularly rebooting the device is recommended to help mitigate risks from malicious software. A European cybersecurity agency, ANSSI, has emphasized that turning off the device completely is crucial, as this action halts all processes and clears temporary software. Users are cautioned against relying on software reboot features, as some spyware can mimic this process.
