A former parliamentary employee, aged 40, was arrested by counter-terrorism detectives in Coventry last Thursday under the Computer Misuse Act of 1990. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the arrest is linked to allegations from his time working at Parliament.
The individual has been granted bail until July while the investigation continues. Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle addressed the matter in the House of Commons, emphasizing that the police inquiry is active and details will not be disclosed at this stage.
A parliamentary spokesperson acknowledged the arrest but refrained from providing further comments due to the ongoing investigation, reiterating the commitment to the safety and security of all individuals associated with Parliament.
