Approximately 6.5 million personal customers and 600,000 business clients of Odido have been affected by a significant data breach. Hackers have released the stolen information on the dark web, which includes over five million identification documents such as passports and driving licenses.
In total, the leaked data encompasses details about 71,000 individuals, including contact information for care providers, and sensitive customer service notes regarding 44,000 clients, touching on personal issues like health and financial status. Odido was reportedly alerted to potential vulnerabilities last year, where attackers impersonated IT personnel to gain access.
The company has since engaged with cybersecurity experts and government officials but remains firm in its decision not to engage with the hackers. A tool called Have I Been Pwned has been launched, allowing users to verify if their emails were compromised, with around two million individuals having already checked their status.
